Working principle of inductor element | GETWELL

How does an inductor work? I will give you a detailed answer today.

An inductor is an element that converts an electric current into magnetic field energy, and the inductance value indicates the ability of the current to produce a magnetic field. Under the same current, winding the wire into a multi-turn coil can increase the magnetic field, and adding magnetic conductive materials such as iron core inside the coil can greatly increase the magnetic field. Therefore, the common inductance is the coil with built-in iron core.

Inductance

When the coil passes through the current, a magnetic field induction is formed in the coil, and the induced magnetic field produces the induced current to resist the current passing through the coil. We call this interaction between the current and the coil the inductance, or inductance, in "Henry" (H). This property can also be used to make inductor elements.

Inductance is the ratio of the magnetic flux of the wire to the current that produces the alternating flux around the inside of the wire when an alternating current is passed through the wire. When the inductor passes through the DC current, there is only a fixed magnetic force line around it, which does not change with time.

However, when an AC current is passed through the coil, there will be a magnetic line of force around it that changes over time. According to Faraday's law of electromagnetic induction-magnetoelectricity, the changing magnetic line of force will produce an induced potential at both ends of the coil, which is equivalent to a "new power supply".

When a closed loop is formed, this induced potential produces an induced current. It is known from Lenz's law that the total amount of magnetic force lines produced by induced current should try to prevent the change of magnetic force lines. The change of magnetic force line comes from the change of external alternating power supply, so from the objective effect, the inductor coil has the characteristic of preventing the change of current in AC circuit.

The inductance coil has characteristics similar to inertia in mechanics, which is electrically called "self-induction". Sparks usually occur at the moment of pulling the knife switch or turning on the knife switch, which is caused by the high induced potential caused by the self-inductance phenomenon.

In short, when the inductor coil is connected to the AC power supply, the magnetic force line inside the coil will change with the alternating current, resulting in electromagnetic induction of the coil. This kind of electromotive force caused by the change of current in the coil itself is called "self-inductive electromotive force". Thus it can be seen that the inductance is only a parameter related to the number, size, shape and medium of the coil, and it is a measure of the inertia of the inductor coil and has nothing to do with the applied current.

Substitution principle:

1. The inductor coil must be replaced by the original value (the number of turns is equal and the size is the same).

2. The patch inductor only needs to be of the same size, and can also be replaced by 0 ohm resistance or wire.

The above is the introduction of the working principle of inductors. If you want to know more about inductors, please feel free to contact us.
